Heyoka’s Workbench

잠비나이 – Live

As mentioned recently, I went to see the Korean band Jambinai live. I did not regret it. Like all the audience I was spellbound.

My highlight – apart from the band and the venue with its mixture of vintage charm, patina and underground – was the young Korean couple right in front of me, holding hands, swaying to and fro, slightly out of beat, a bit shyly, but deeply immersed in their obviously young love and enchanted by the sound from their remote home.

As for myself, the concert had a special meaning, too, for it made me do a journey – not only to the place of the venue, but also to my own roots that I thought had long been severed for good. They were not. There is life in those roots and I might be able to reconnect. So, maybe, it would be proper to choose Jambinai’s »Connection« as the theme of my journey. But, hey, this is getting too mawkish now (and I do not know the actual meaning of the song anyway) … ;-)

Jambinai, you were smashing. And you do without pathos, drama, stardom, and hipsterness. You seem to be a bunch of very likeable, bright and gifted musicians. I wish you all the best and am looking forward to your next album!
